Senior Maharashtra BJP leader from Maharashtra and Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Chavan shamed the performance of the Congress in the assembly elections in the five states on Monday.
Speaking to media persons, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Chavan said, “I am very happy that in the elections of the five states whose results were announced today. We can see that the BJP has won a resounding victory in West Bengal as well.”

“The Trinamool Congress has suffered a huge defeat. Mamata Banerjee who has been in power for three terms has gone. People did not expect it, but we were sure. Modi and Amit Shah met people and convinced them. There was also a huge anti-incumbency factor. The BJP alliance will also form the government in Puducherry. People have approved of Modi’s leadership after seeing his development work”.
Chavan stated that the opposition’s attempt to oppose Modi’s decision was not appreciated by the people.
“Women’s anger against the opposition was seen due to their opposition to the Women’s Reservation Bill. We suspect that women in West Bengal must have opposed the Trinamool Congress in large numbers. Those who expressed doubts about Operation Sindoor and raised doubts about the country by believing the words of the American President have received a good answer. The Congress suffered a major defeat in West Bengal and Assam. Congress has become a leaderless party. They must become wiser now,” Chavan said.
However, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut rejected the BJP’s victory and dismissed it.
“The BJP won in West Bengal. The BJP lamp burns bigger before it goes out. Counting has been stopped at 30 to 35 polling stations in Bengal and BJP workers are looting many polling stations. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is helping BJP workers. The dream of Modi and Shah has finally been fulfilled, but their success at the national level has ended. The BJP did not achieve this victory in a fair and straightforward manner”.
Yet, reacting to the BJP’s performance, BJP Lok Sabha MP Vinod Tawde said, “The politics of appeasement will not work. It has failed. The politics of development works, and this was proven in Bengal. The BJP government has returned to Assam. The BJP’s seats have increased in Tamil Nadu.
“The BJP has performed well in Puducherry. We have opened our account in Kerala as well, and our vote percentage is increasing. But today’s real victory is in West Bengal, because Bengal is not just any other state, but a border area. Bangladeshis infiltrate from there to Mumbai. The BJP victory in Bengal will solve many problems of our country,” Tawde said.
Earlier on Monday, the Maharashtra unit spokesperson of the BJP issued an official statement that the BJP lotus has blossomed in the muck created by Mamata Banerjee for the last 15 years and her ‘Didigiri’ has finally come to an end in West Bengal.
“The BJP and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) received a clear majority in three out of five states, and the false propaganda of the opposition has been exposed. In West Bengal, the lotus of the BJP has now blossomed in the muck created by Mamata Banerjee for the last fifteen years and her ‘Didigiri’ in the state has come to an end,” BJP Maharashtra state chief spokesperson Navnath Ban stated at a press conference held at here on Monday.
“Voters and BJP workers in West Bengal have done the work of eroding her power. The BJP worked to strengthen its workers there after winning 77 seats in the last elections in West Bengal. During this period, Mamata Banerjee’s workers tortured BJP workers to death,” Navnath Ban said.
“Mamata Banerjee used goons to run her government on a large scale. We strengthened those 77 BJP MLAs in West Bengal. During the election period, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself campaigned there. Amit Shah was stationed in West Bengal for about twenty-two days. And most importantly, this was the first election after BJP National President Nitin Nabin took office,” Navnath Ban said.
“BJP is a party that stands behind its workers. It is not like the ‘you fight while we take care of your clothes’ policy of Sanjay Raut and Uddhav Thackeray. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our workers, to fight and win. The people have once again blessed Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now we will form the government in West Bengal and serve the people,” Ban said.
“Sanjay Raut is still grumbling that BJP won in Bengal by deploying paramilitary forces and conducting Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Why didn’t Raut and Uddhav Thackeray go to West Bengal to campaign for Mamata? Mamata Banerjee was winning elections on the basis of bogus votes till now and her victory was due to Bangladeshi infiltrators,” Ban said.
